With Donovan:
G Lucas
G Bradley
G Crawford(or Meeks)
F Patterson
F Stevenson
This is the advantage of having Donovan. I think he will bring in Lucas and Patterson thus make us more competitive this coming season. I think there are some coaches out there that will do a good job, but it will take them longer than it will Donovan and next year will be more of a transition year for other coaches.
With Gillespie:
G Bradley
G Meeks
G Crawford
F Stevenson
C Carter
He might bring in Lucas (because of the Texas connection and the fact that Lucas is similar in size and game to Acie Law IV and that would be a selling point). No way he'll get Patterson. I think he would want a scoring PG in there based on what he had at TAMU, so Bradley will get another shot at running the point. Also he'll want scoring guards in there and will need Meeks in the line-up. He'll go with a more traditional PF and C line-up inside which is why I believe he would give Carter the nod at the 5. Might recruit better in the long run than Smith, but the style of play will still be an issue for many fans.
With Wright:
G Bradley
G Meeks
G Crawford
G Jasper
F Stevenson
I think he'll use his 06(4 guard) formula with what we have coming back. I think this is the coach I would want if I am Jasper, because he'll make the most out of what Jasper brings to the table because he isn't afraid to play a guard at the 4 spot (which I think would benefit Jasper). The focus will be on the guards to score, especially Bradley, Meeks, and Crawford. Definitely a poor man's version of Lowry, Ray, and Foye. More size that Nova had last season, but not the shooting and scoring team that they were. Stevenson is in there for defense mainly. Wright might be able to sway Lucas, but no way he gets Patterson to come to UK. His style of play will bring in the athletes eventually, but he won't be able to woo the big name big men until he proves he can develop one. If he can turn Stevenson, Carter, or Williams into a great big man it would really help his cause. Other than style of play I don't see this as much of an upgrade over Smith. But style of play makes a difference.
Not sure what D'Antonio would do. I think it would take him the longest to get the program where he wants it, because he would have to learn the recruiting ropes. I don't watch the pros so I don't know much about him except he likes to run and shoot. His teams are very guard oriented I believe so he might go with a similar team as Wright.
Barnes might could persuade JL and PP to come, but I doubt it. He'll play the same line-up as Gillespie probably.
Pelphrey and Ford would both suffer through some major growing pains and it would take them a little longer to get things going. Could see alot of transfers popping up if we get an unproven guy like Pel or Ford.
What do you guys think?
