3pt's top 5 college football players
As we head into the 4th week of college football, the question of who will be the next hiesmen trophy winner is probably the #1 question in all of college football. Whos #1? Who will be in a suit and tie come time for the Heisman award ceremony?
I'll start at #1.
Steve Slaton
To me, this is the most obvious choice.
Averging 2 td's per game, over 500 yards after 3 games!
Steve Slaton put together a total of 1,128 yards last season. My opinion. He will double that amount by the end of the season.
So the question still re-mains, will Steve Slaton and the Mountaineers be competing for the National Championship? We'll get to that later..
Were on to #2
Chris Leak of the UF Gators.
So far this year has put together a very impressive stat sheet. Just under 800 yeards for the season passing, 10 td's. Gators face the Kentucky Wildcats which there favorite by 21 points going into there 4 game of the season. So far there 3-0 beating Tennessee, UCF, and Southern Miss.
Last year he put up 2,639 yards total, he's projected to throw for at least 3,196 yards. Is this the year of the Gators, winning the Title in basketball, do they have one more Championship trophy in them?
#3 Has to be Mr. Adrian Peterson
Rushing for over 110 yards thus far, scoring 4 touch downs, all but one being rushing. So far the Sooners are 2-1 losing at Oregon in a heart breaker 34-33. I will go ahead and say OU will not be competing for a championship, and I will also say they will not be a BCS bowl contender. But, I do believe Adrian Peterson will be a Heisman candidate.
#4 Troy Smith
Is troy smith the MVP (hiesmen)? No. Troy Smith is basically the best player on the best team. But that does not mean he will not be dressed out on stage for the Heisman trophy ceremony. But he will NOT win it. I will say as of right now, the buckeyes will be competing for a championship this year. Smith has thrown for 7 TD's, threw for 769 yards, projected to complete 3,076 yards for the season. Buckeyes are 3-0. Very impressive wins against all opponents, Texas probably being the most.
#5 Player in the land: D. Kinder
Might come to some surprise to you but Kinder of the Pittsburgh Panthers is the #1 overall leader in receiving yards. Scoring 4 tds, rushed for 370 yards. Projected to catch for 1,480 yards this season. Will be a long shot for a Heisman candidate, but he certainly will be in the mix.
Notable players:
Erik Ainge of the Tennessee Vols
Like him or not, he's very much improves as is his vols team. Throwing for 7 td's, passing for 807 yards, only been sacked 2 times. Erik Ainge is my most improved player of the year.
Surprises and busts
Bust:
Jared Zabransky of the Boise State broncos
I expected big things from him this year, and he has let me down. Throwing for only 3 td's, passing for 402 yards, already being sacked 7 times! Even though they are failing to score from the pass, they still have a record of 3-0.
Surprise:
Andre Woodson
Call me bias, but like it or not, Woodson has surprised me. He is currently ranked the 12th best QB in the nation. Throwing for 9 td's, 718 yards, only throwing 1 interception, sacked 5 times. GO CATS BABY!
Wrap up:
Heres where i say who is going to be competing for the title.
I think we will be seeing a Auburn vs. OSU competing for the championship. Both teams are extremely good, I do believe the buckeyes will be taking this one. It will be close.
Prediction:
OSU- 44
Auburn- 38
So I hope this information helps you as you make your picks for the Heisman trophy winner. I'm out.
GO CATS!
